Legal Counsel

Are you a commercially minded solicitor looking to make a real impact within a market-leading retail business? At Signet Jewelers UK & Ireland, home to Ernest Jones and H. Samuel, we're looking for a talented Legal Counsel to join our Legal, Risk & Compliance team and play a key role in supporting one of the UK's leading jewellery retailers. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, providing practical, commercially focused legal advice on a wide range of matters that directly influence business performance, customer experience and strategic growth. 

What the role involves

As Legal Counsel, you'll partner with teams across the organisation, helping them navigate legal risk while enabling commercial success. No two days will be the same as you advise on a variety of legal and business matters, including:

• Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts and agreements.
• Providing legal support across key business functions including commercial operations, marketing, customer services, business development and IT.
• Advising on advertising campaigns, promotions, competitions, social media activity and influencer partnerships.
• Supporting the business on consumer protection, marketing regulation and data protection matters.
• Managing customer disputes and pre-litigation issues with a pragmatic and commercially balanced approach.
• Working alongside external legal partners where specialist support is required.
• Delivering training and guidance on legal and compliance topics across the business.
• Helping shape policies, procedures and best practices that support compliance and reduce risk. 

What we're looking for

We're seeking a qualified solicitor who combines strong technical legal expertise with commercial awareness and a collaborative approach.

You'll bring:

• Qualification as a UK solicitor via a Training Contract or SQE route.
• Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business advice.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to manage a varied workload and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and genuine interest in supporting business growth.

In-house experience is highly desirable, whether gained in a permanent role or through secondment. Experience advising on marketing, consumer law, intellectual property or data protection matters would be advantageous.
